I would contend that the Mueller APT is a much better scope than the BSA by leaps and bounds and will only run you 170.

Re: we need a sticky of best buys for the buck$

though a sticky would be nice, only problem with the sticky is that no one really reads the ones that are already there, or uses the search function, and it would be ignored like the others.

also alot of opinion will be tossed in rather than if the scope actually is worth the money.

then there will be the usual 10 page ford vs. chevy discussions, adding fat to the thread that no one will sift through,
and the same 5 "what scope under 400.00" threads will still emerge.

more power to you, i think it is a good idea, but you will be updating ALOT, almost a part time job. if you are going to do it, i'd put it in 100.00 increments, a 150.00 swing includes many optics that are not of the same cliber from the lower end to the higher end of that classification

Re: we need a sticky of best buys for the buck$

it'll be another sticky very few people read but i agree with you there is a need for that info to be posted permanently.
good luck.

Re: we need a sticky of best buys for the buck$

$1-200
Bushnell 3200 series (2-7, 3-9) (10x mil dot)
(excellent value)

$3-400
Zeiss Conquest (3-9)
(Arguably the best quality glass within at at least twice its price range)

$5-600
Bushnell Eite Tactical (2.5-16)
(very decent glass, target turrets, large mag range, 30mm, 120 MOA Elevation, long and constant eye relief)

I agree with the 'stay away from' list. Hopefully it can be done in good taste ie. when a product is a complete rip off/scam/ etc... not because someone received a lemon, a scope with a fleck of debris or had one bad experience with a CS rep.

Re: we need a sticky of best buys for the buck$

500-600$ i'd have to throw in the Leupy VX-R tactical 3-9x40mm Other than lacking zero stop is a dandy little scope for a hunting rifle.

Re: we need a sticky of best buys for the buck$

I've got a really nice Sightron Siii 8-32x56mm scope I've used on several rifles and I think it is one of the best in its price range for precision rifle work. Good repeatable clicks, clear glass, and a sharp parallax. $800-900

Re: we need a sticky of best buys for the buck$

If the search function on this site was worth a wooden nickle it would sure save alot of reposts. Ive since found the googlel search for here but it would be nice to just be able to go to search on HERE and find what you wanted to know. Just sayin.

Re: we need a sticky of best buys for the buck$

we should also add scopes to just SAY NO to, like ncstar, counter sniper, barsaka... others?

Re: we need a sticky of best buys for the buck$

It seems you neglected Leupold altogether at the beginning. They certainly should included with many good MR4's FFP and SFP options for under $2000.

Re: we need a sticky of best buys for the buck$

Add on $200-300 Weaver tac 3-10. Great scope, Great reviews here in the Hide.

Re: we need a sticky of best buys for the buck$

I've been pouring over forums and reviews for a variable FFP in my $750 budget range and have settled on the Weaver tactical for $769 and the Bushnell Elite 6x24x50 FFP with the G2DMR reticule which I just ordered for roughly $725 after the rebate. I need to note that the Vortex PST was the goal but they are a little higher priced and unavailable.

Re: we need a sticky of best buys for the buck$

The problem with topics like this is that everyone is going to have their own opinion of what the best bang for the buck is within a price range.

Re: we need a sticky of best buys for the buck$

Weaver Tac 3-15 -> $700

leupold got left out, because it's not a bang for the buck scope. it's a pay a lot more for the name scope.

This sounds like one of those "I have this one so its the best" types of discussions. Sniper mag had this same discussion and they identified:

Burris xtreme tactical 4-16x50 for 929.00
Bushnell DMR 3.5-21X50 for 1500.00
Leatherwood ART 6-24x50 for 500.00
Leupold Target 4.5-14x40 for 1125.00
Weaver Tactical 4-20x50 for 1250.00
Vortex FFP 4-16x50 for 1050.00

I do not own any of these so I cannot comment on them and I am just passing on the info.
