Best sensibly priced tripod solution? (Bog Pod, PRS Tripod, or Pig Saddle)

Ok, so I am looking for a tripod for long range (400-800) yard elk hunting in Colorado. I have done some research and came up with the following:

1.) BOG-POD CLD-3 Shooting Camo Tall Tripod
https://www.amazon.com/BOG-POD-CLD-...490300449&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=bog+pod+cld

2.) PRS Large QD Tripod With SSP-1
http://www.precisionriflesolutions.com/apps/webstore/products/show/839380

3.) Pig saddle with manfrotto tripod and ball head
http://stores.hogsaddle.com/pig-saddle-1/

The pig saddle would probably be the most stable option, but it may be price prohibitive. I dont really want to spend more than 350 on this.

What would be the most cost effective yet stable option for mounting the pig saddle?

Can anyone recommend one of these solutions over the others?

Thanks!

I have plenty of tripod options, that being said I have killled over 20 of these fine creatures in the last decade + and almost always I have used my pack/bipod or a jacket over a rock. I was out in 20+ MPH wind yesterday practicing for my Fall hunts. Even with my AXMC I used the top of my Backpack added Eberlestock F1. If you really need one go with the light BOG

I just ordered the prs large qd tripod with the ssp-2 saddle, i cant wait to try it out

Weight ratings matter...

For a single shot you can get away with a lot, but to do it right you need to properly match the weight rating of the tripod to the rifle.

Thanks for getting back to me guys.

I think I've got a pretty good set up figured out!

Sirui W-1004 Waterproof Aluminum Alloy Tripod ($160) (33lb load capacity)

Sirui K-20x Ball Head ($120) (55lb load capacity)

CRETAC Picatinny Rail to Arca-Swiss Adapter ($70) (44lb load capacity)

BAM - mount that sucker right to a picatinny rail and be able to use the ARCA-SWISS QD

Total: $350

Seems like a pretty damn good set up to me for the money. What do you guys think?

Got a link for the adapter?
I've got the same tripod they sell at PRS I've had my g2 recon and my old m1a in an archangel stock on it and they were both good to go.

Seems like a good option, I have that ball head and it's pretty nice for the price. If you have a chassis you could just drill and thread a 1/2-20 hole at the balance point for the quick release plate. You could also mount the plate on a quick release like this one. http://aimshot.com/store/index.php?id_product=107&controller=product

Slik Pro 700DX tripod with pig saddle, mounted directly. Cheapest? Probably. Heaviest? Probably. Gets the job done though.

I absolutely love my Manfrotto tripod. Though the carbon fiber is nice, I went aluminum. Nice and robust. This along with the Hog Saddle should fit your budget just fine.

I went with the aluminum Manfrotto tripod, 052 magnesium head and Hog Saddle. It is super stable if you use one of the sling techniques for stability. I carried it around for my son on an youth elk hunt in NM but after a day or two, i kind of wished I would have sprung for the carbon. It wasn't that heavy, but if I had to cary it and a rifle myself, it would matter. With a 7mm Rem Mag, the Q2 quick release would unscrew after several shots. Only had it finger tight but would consider tightening with pliers and possibly locktight. My 13 year old son was able to put 3 shots though a ragged hole at 100 yards with the tripod so I was very impressed.

I bought a RRS keymod adapter plate for $50 and a RRS B2-40-LR-M6 quick-release clamp for $100 that I bolted onto my Manfotto ball head aluminum Manfotto legs that I already had (paid $200 used). So $350 total and it works great. My dad has a full RRS set up and it is amazing. The ball head is really beefy and solid and the legs are stiffer, but it also cost about 4X as much.

I use and old aluminum monfrotto tripod(had it for 20 yrs), monfrotto leveling head (stable allows about +/-15 deg adjustments). And pig saddle.

Sensible? My wife doesnt think any of this makes sense but my neighbors all know where to go if shi@ hits the fan. He he. My system is 20lbs, had to bite the bullet and sprung for about $1,500 to get done. I wentvwith a monfrotto tripod rated for 25lbs and the magnesium ball head with 35lb rating and HOG saddle. Its is amazing! Im sure if you stepped everything down youll be fine on a lighter system. I wouldnt do anything unless it was monfrotto. Pictured below: The 028B Monfrotto tripod with the crank is unbeatable IMO. 468MGRC4 ball is amazing. I would scale down best you can according to weight ratings if you need to spend less.
