Funny the ad is still up on this website. I mentioned above it only covers the 3-9 and 10X HD. Email Lowlight or Chris at SWFA. They should be able to tell you what is up.

The SSHIDE code is still good. Just tested it on the site and it worked just fine. It is only for the SS 3-9x42 and the SS 10x42HD. I’ll get with the lady you spoke to and make sure she knows the code is not expired.

+1 on the vortex as well. I've held and tested their optics and was very impressed, really solid design. Another thing to concider when buying something like optics is customer service. things can go wrong and if the company is lacking in that category it really sucks. good luck

Just go to the ATF web site and requst a packet. You can also call your local ATF branch and they will help. Then you fill out the paperwork and then send it off. In about 2-6 weeks you should have your C&R FFL. I think that it cost me $30 for three years. I found a link with some good informatin on obtaining your FFL. If you have any other questions you could always PM me as I am always willing to help Sniper Hide members when I can.

Re: Best sub $500.00 scope?

The C&R FFL alows you to purchase firearms that are on the list of approved firearms over 50 years old. You cannot purchase modern firearms like a new production Remington 700. In order to get your 01 FFL it is a bit more difficult and requires you to maintain a store as well as be subject to ATF inspection of your books and firearms. The C&R FFL is for individuals who want to collect vintage firearms and maintain a collection. The C&R FFL is $30 for 3 years where as the 01 FFL is $200 for 3 years. The good thing about the C&R is that you qualify for dealer pricing on parts and equipment from Midway, Numrich and Brownells.
