I'm looking at purchasing one of these as my next scope and was wondering if anyone could tell me which has the most tactile and solid turret adjustments b/c that's a biggy for me. As of night now I'm leaning toward the NF because of price over the S&B and eye relief over the USO. Any help?

IMO, the S&B has the most tactile clicks then its a toss up between the NF and USO.

Any of the 3 will allow you to accurately dial come-ups, but the S&B "feels" the best out of those.

    Re: Best turrets-NF, USO, S&B

Assuming a quality scope, like one from either of those three makers, the 'feel' of the turrets is subjective and will also vary from scope to scope.

I like the positive feel of SB's single turn knobs, but others say the adjustments are too close together for their liking. I like NF, too, but how precise a NF adjustment feels to me often depends on how much grease is inside the clutch assembly. The USO EREK is OK, too, but I am not a fan of their Mil windage knobs - too light and mushy in my opinion (but to be fair, others really like them).

I have examples from each of the above maker, and I like them all. But, bottom line: I would first look at other things when choosing a scope.

Yea I have been researching a lot about each. I just wanted to get some further info on the knobs considering its not something you often read about in a comparison of these scopes. Thanks a lot for the info. Im still leaning toward the NF because I can't really justify spending an extra thousand dollars on a scope when the NF would fit my needs (at least from what I've read) perfectly. The USO was very appealing to me until I read and saw the specs of it's shorter than average eye relief (had a bad experience and never want to repeat it).

The S&B is mainly appealing because I can get a high powered FF scope. The NF is limited to 3.5-15X F1. Would you go with the 3.5-15 F1 or the 5.5-22X SFP?

I would like to shoot unknown distance and moving targets, so thats why I feel the F1 would be the logical choice. Any thoughts on this matter?

If you can't afford or justify spending the money on the S&B, which has an excellent feeling knob in the dual turn, then go with the NF F1. For what you want to do FFP will be a big advantage. Get the mil knobs and MLR reticle. The NF knobs are excellent and the F1 is a very good scope.

    Re: Best turrets-NF, USO, S&B

I don't really care for how close together the clicks are on S&B and PR scopes. That doesn't mean I wouldn't own one, I just prefer the spacing of the USO EREK or the 5 mil NF turrets. Those two are my favorite.

    Re: Best turrets-NF, USO, S&B

i have owned all of them and honestly the s&b has noticeably more precise clicks than the others. mind you they all tracked perfectly so i don't want this to be confused as anything negative about the others its just that the schmidt seams so solid, however the clicks are really close together but ridiculously precise.

if you can rationlize and afford the s&b or hensoldt do it you won't regret it.

    +1
S&B for me as well then USO.

    Re: Best turrets-NF, USO, S&B

    Having owned all 3:

S&B: Best clicks in the industry, the gold standard of knobs imo.

NF: Soft but still very tactile clicks, the spacing is a bit far apart for my liking but the hi-speed may be a lot better.

USO: EREK knob has nice clicks and spacing. Non-EREK elevation knobs and windage knob clicks are terrible, soft and mushy, worse than my Leupolds. I also really hate the design of the set screw on their windage knob. Its an extra pain to set it without accidentally rotating the turret off zero.

That's exactly the path I took. I love my F1. Over 2 months shooting 50-1000 yds. Beautiful glass. Solid. Excellent turrets. Worth every penny.

    Re: Best turrets-NF, USO, S&B

Just to throw my .02 in here.

I fondled a bunch of NF scopes at the NRA convention this year. I was really impressed with how well the turrets turned. They felt great to my. I'm a Falcon Menace owner so it's not like I have $10k in optics sitting around, but I was really impressed. I did crank of those puppies quite a bit. I couldn't tell a difference in any of them.

I'd be interested in hearing which one you go with...

    Re: Best turrets-NF, USO, S&B

You can feel a difference between NF turrets and S&B turrets. Whether that difference is worth the extra money is entirely up to you, but there is a difference in feel.

ETA: Both NF and S&B feel great to me.

    Re: Best turrets-NF, USO, S&B

Thanks for all the input guys. I think I'm gonna go with the NF F1 with highspeed turrets. just hope the reticle looks big enough for my liking at lower powers and the 15X is enough for the long range shooting and ranging targets.

    Re: Best turrets-NF, USO, S&B

While I like the click feel on my S&B MTC, I personally like the click feel on a NXS. For me, the USOs Ive had were decent in the click feel, but were not on the same page as the S&B and NXS.
