I am tinkering around with different ways of shooting for accuracy .Do you prefer bags over pod.
I have a magpul pod i am testing bHow do you set it for shooting of a bench .
my experience is limited with the pod .
I mainly shoot standing for silhouette .started in the 1980'

Bipod and rear bag can be very accurate. Off of a bench, it’s harder to be really accurate with a bipod if the bench top is cement or another hard surface (metal, tile, slick wood). The slick hard top makes it hard to load the bipod and tends to cause erratic movement (hop) when the recoil impulse starts. In that case, a front bag/rest might work better or shooting off a bench with a carpeted top, for example. Kinda depends on how you shoot. Front rest and rear bag is what the benchrest guys do off the bench but your gun needs to be optimized for that for it to be really effective.

If you're just bench shooting get a benchrest. Bipods are more for field shooting. "Bags" is totally amorphous at this point. That could be a Numero Uno to a small, rear squeezebag.

I would say everyone needs a Game Changer bag no matter what kind of shooting you do, because it is the most versatile bag and can be made to work in almost any situation.

Definitely a squeeze bag for the rear. Depending on budget and what’s gonna work in that situation to rest the front on. Any and everything is up for grabs. I like bags but that’s just my personal preference. Try different things and you’ll learn what works best for you

We did a study bipod verses bag with 22lr at 50yd target on a wooden bench.
1st-we found a huge difference with soft vs hard rubber feet on the bipod(larger group size with hard rubber feet)
2nd-Game changer front and rear no hop and group size close to one hole.
3rd-bipod mounted at the very end of a spigot mount.(increase hop)
would assume on a large center fire hop would be much greater.

I use both heavy bags and bipods.

Heavy bag is just forward of the mag well.
Produces best results at that location.

Keep those rubber feet off the deck...
set them on a towel and let the recoil slide the rifle back.
No hop and better results than if I friction load the feet.

F-class bipod produces the best results.
Almost free-recoil, minimal contact between me and the rifle.

One thing to note...that barrel is not free floated.
Epoxy shimmed to prevent stock flex, it's a rigid composite structure.
Zero springboard effect to cause vertical spread.

200 yards with the F-class bipod...SK Biathlon Sport
The entire box at a single aimpoint.

That makes sense and explains why I like bags. Regardless of the shape or brand of the gear the added weight can be a problem if you’re humping it through rugged terrain. So keep that in mind.

bi pod in the front lab jack in the back reminds me of 80's mullet business in the front and party in the back .

In my (limited) experience a sturdy, well sized bench where you can get comfortably behind the rifle is also a very important aspect of the equation.

I tend to be more accurate shooting off a bag. I feel like it gives me better control over the movement of the gun. In the end, you need to be as comfortable as possible with your body & the rifle on target. Try different stuff and stay with what works best for you.

your own table with bags on wheels or floating pontoons make it portable but sturdy everywhere you go there it is .

Bipod and rear bag. Learn how to use it.

If you're never not at a bench, grab a benchrest front bag and a bunny ear rear bag.
