I'm on the JRH mailing list and thought these were pretty fantastic deals. WP for $3k, Pinnacle HP+ for 2750, etc.

Post up anything else good. Hoping to find a good deal on a standalone illuminator like the Armasight discussed here recently that jumped back up in price.

Hi guys!
Shopping this week for a set of NVG. Whats everyone pick for best set up under $4000? Trying to to a set up with helmet and mount for $5000. This is be my first NVG purchase and mainly running with my AR with IR Laser and Red Dot.

Team Wendy Helmet, Rhino2 mount, WP PVS-14.

And good fucking clear eye-pro. Every goddamn eye injury I have seen so far in my career has been NV related.

People take their daytime shooting glasses off and then start moving through the night time trees and shit and can’t see things moving towards their face...or they smash themselves in the eye with the damn PVS unit...or they learn that Mk18 with a can wasn’t really eye friendly without glasses.

Great advice, I've never really thought about it before.

A solid setup without a J arm and replace that rubber eye cup with a Wilcox amber filter (it has a big thick rubber bumper) and that problem will be solved. I use either a Crye soft cover (mostly) or Crye helmet and an INVG mount. But I know what you mean. The old J arms used to break first, to protect the unit, I called ITT's engineer way back in the day and they changed the plastic to one that bends, told 'em we weren't breaking units but were breaking J arms daily. I may have an older brittle one somewhere.... But we were going through hundreds of the damn things and guys were taping the things to their heads so they made that change about 15 years ago. I had one of the first ones expedited to a buddy in Mosul, boy was he happy. I guess 'em not breaking does cause more eye injuries. Anyway, the dual dovetail doesn't bend or break and I kinda prefer it now but I take the second dovetail off.

If you guys need NODs, Black Friday or not, TNVC is who to call. I'm sure there are other good ones but they're the best I know of and never let me down and kept their word. One day it won't be Black Friday and if your shit goes down it'll be nice to know you bought it from a company that still gives a shit. Most of these companies figure once they get your money, they're done with you and don't expect repeat business. One and done. NV is about the shadiest goddamn business out there IME, so buyer beware.

The ONE time I went somewhere else --fucking A hassle from beginning to end. First off, the dealer wasn't actually the dealer, he was just an inbetween? Some fucking guy? Found the dealer, wanted me to deal with "that guy". Got lied to, didn't get what I ordered and had to wait nearly a month to get it. Wish to GOD TNVC had scored some of those PVS30's and I wouldn't have had to go through that shit. Thank god the shitty dealer I dealt with isn't the mfg. and PVS30 isn't something could fuck up so I lucked out and got a good unit.

And you will be offered NASA rated NODs. I'm not kidding. Apperently NASA gets better shit than SOCOM and it's twice the price. I'm told the PVS14's issued to the astronauts for night time training are the titties. I wish I was making this up.

TNVC or bust. Happy Thanksgiving Vic.

BTW, 2850 for a NIB L3 setup ain't bad at all...

It helps some.

Oddly I saw far more face smash from people putting the flip down arms in a bag or something, having the distance part of the mount move, and then smashing themselves in the face with the unit when they flipped the nods down.

I've nearly taken mine to the face when I didn't have my helmet secured and the whole thing pivoted down when I swung the 14 down. That's a lesson I don't plan to repeat.
