Blackhawk swivel bipod

Re: Blackhawk swivel bipod

I briefly checked one out at walmart the other day. It seemed very cheaply made like the rest of the knock offs. Just like the rest they probably won't last long. Get the Harris swiveling leg notch bipod and a KMW lock and don't look back. Excellent quality and in the slim chance of a failure Harris will fix it.

Re: Blackhawk swivel bipod

Those Atlas pods look nice,(but also a bit pricey). It looks like they are catering to the guys that like rails on the fore grip, I guess there are all sorts of adapters for using a sling stud. It looks like they swivel by means of independently changing the angle of the legs?

Re: Blackhawk swivel bipod

Atlas is catering to the guys who want a well engineered bipod that is designed to last under field conditions. The only thing that I know of that is sturdier is a cinder block.

Atlas makes adapters for stud mounting. Swivel and cant is accomplished by the design not changing the legs.

To really grasp the difference you should find one and manipulate the range of movements. Only then will you fully realize the difference.

Good luck

Re: Blackhawk swivel bipod

agrre with the above on the blackhawk pods, same as the usual knockoffs (calwell, shooter's ridge, champion, yadda yadda).

the finish is worse, there's noticably more play in it, legs aren't as sturdy, springs are of lesser quality.

for just F'n around they'll do, but for anything you have to depend on (competition, expensive hunting trip, etc. ) the original harris is still the way to go.

Re: Blackhawk swivel bipod

Not on a bolt gun but I have one on a rimfire for about a year now. It does the job, what else can be said. For about $35, it does what I want. It has seen darn near the amount of use of my Harris's. But, one of my Harris in one hand the BH in the other hand, a good difference in feel of the quality. Then again, my most recent Harris of 2 years of use let me down. The spring in the leg went unhappy, has no recoil by the spring, have to adj the leg by hand then tighten down the knob, kind of soured me on Harris that cost $100.

Wow Thanks for all of the input and personal experiences! Thanks for the links TOP PREADATOR. It looks like with anything "Opinions will certainly vary". I may get one to play with, and when I can, buy an atlas or similar bipod for my custom 700. Then Ill use the BH on my 22lr.

What are a few other "top tier" bipod brands I should look into?

Thanks again guys!
