More than a few vendors will work out of the same booth sometimes. You gotta realize how much that damn space costs.

Re: Blackops Precision and Defiance

Did anyone visit their booth at Shot Show? I would like to see some pictures of anything new from Black Ops Precision.

Re: Blackops Precision and Defiance

I have heard form several people that this is true, but i think we should wait and see what Mike has to say before anyone jumps the gun. I have sent him an email asking him to let everyone know the status of Black Ops and the status of unfufilled orders, including my own. Mike is a good guy and I'm sure he won't leave everyone hanging.

Re: Blackops Precision and Defiance

Based on the way this post came about, I had no intention of making an event out of it, but the rumor mill doesn't disappoint.

I recently accepted a position (01-13-12) as a Design Engineer with Defiance Machine. My roll will be to Design and Develop new products, as well as help Defiance customers in any way possible to ensure their success. Very simple. I'll also staunchly report that there has been no merger between BlackOps Precision and Defiance Machine.

In addition, BlackOps Precision is not closing up. I'm still running BlackOps Precision and anyone that has a rifle build in process has nothing to worry about. The rifle builds will still be conducted in my shop by the same people that have been building the rifles that our customers expect to see and we're shipping a steady stream of rifles.

It isn't untrue that we've been slow to deliver over the last six months of 2011, but the slow down has been a direct product of a lawsuit (that we faired very well with) and my agreement to change my company name. The greatest challenge during this process was waiting for a new marking variance. Historically, my variances have been processed in far less than 30 days, but I was out of production for 106 days while waiting for the ATF to process the variance on the Model 911. Afterwards, the variance for the Model 605 Rimfire Repeater was processed in about 15 days.

Any future changes in the direction of BlackOps Precision will occur as transparent to my customers as possible, but the fact remains, I am still in the drivers seat and any questions can be directed to me personally.

Although I appreciate your question, I won't discuss any further details on this forum. All of my customers still maintain a direct and open line to me personally and I will openly entertain questions directed to me via telephone and/or email.

Had this post been started by a known quantity on this forum, my approach would be different. However, and as a result, the back-channel chatter has absorbed the time and energy of many industry figures that have better things to do with their time. Any future posts regarding this topic will be directed to my responses in this post.

Re: Blackops Precision and Defiance

After a few conversations with my customers, I now understand the concerns. I had a conversation about a month ago with a member here regarding CNC inletting customer stocks for my DBM. The conversation involved outside customers shipping stocks to this particular member and I would ship the DBMs to his shop. This would keep me from doing a large number of inletting jobs on a manual machine and provide the end customers with faster service....so I thought.

I now know that the conversation has been grossly misrepresented by that member. I will adamantly reiterate that there will be no contracting or outsourcing of any portion of anyone's rifle builds outside my shop. All rifle builds will be handled by my people and I, in my shop....period.
