I have a wonderful shooting rifle i bought a couple years ago from a member here, its a 40x converted to a repeater by Black Ops Precision many years ago. The previous owner painted the gun a couple of times, and its not great looking but its functional and the paint does its job of preventing rust. now, one thing they did was paint EVERYTHING. bolt body and the rear cocking peice, etc, chamber and inside the bolt races also. ive been cleaning most of the paint out of the inside of the action because i want this thing to go back to being buttery smooth while running the bolt. i got bogged down doing some steel swinger tree drills because the bolt would hang.
What can i coat the entire bolt with that will replace the paint, give good protection and be smoother than spray paint? recommendations for who can do the work? Can i do a DLC on this thing and call it good?
