Bolt Differences?

I have been looking at different upgrades for my Remy 700 SPS Tactical .308. I have noticed on some Remy Bolt Action rifles the bolts have a "stainless polished" look to them compared to the normal bolt. Is this an upgraded bolt, or a smiths custom work. And are there any benefits from this. I am very new to the Bolt Action scene and shooting. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Bolt Differences?

Some BDL's, Senderos, and other 700's have jeweled bolts. My BDL hunting rifle has one and it's smooth as silk. Nothing to do with the jewling, but the lugs and races are top notch. Thing is can't just go swapping bolts, you will have to check for proper headspacing.

Just work your bolt a few thousand times and it will slick out. If you want to spend money on your rifle, invest in a good stock, trigger and most of all the glass.

Re: Bolt Differences?

thanks roggom. I completely understand the trigger, glass, and stock upgrades. I am wanting to make this a year or two project. I am slowly adding upgrades. My next investment is a bell and carlson medalist stock. Im slowly learning internal upgrades such as trueing the bolt/face, bolt jeweling, etc. Just so much to take in. Again thank you
