Bolt handle coming loose - Best way to get it tight
I have an Impact action and the threaded bolt handle keeps coming loose. I am concerned about marring the finish on the handle so I am asking how others overcame this issue.
Blue loc-tite and a non marring mini strap wrench if you have one.
If no strap wrench, I’d say give it a good few wraps with some kitchen drawer liner or something grippy to protect the finish and snug it down with a pair of pliers, just don’t squeeze the shit out of it. The loc-tite will do the holding for you.
Honestly, Blue Loctite would probably be enough. It’s not getting a ton of torque under normal use...unless your wife is a gorilla with a panic problem. I use Red because I have no intent to ever change the knob although even red isn’t really permanent.

Wrap the knob in a leather glove to avoid marring. Put the water pump pliers on it and tighten up. If the thread fit is really loose I give a couple wraps if teflon tape around the handle stud to fill that empty space.
Thanks everyone for the advice. I tried a piece of leather around the handle as as spife7980 suggested. Put a little blue loc-tite on just to be sure. Seems to be staying tight now.
