I recently discovered Bolt Knobs Bill and I'll have one of his in my next rifle.
Powder Coated in Deep Sky Blue like the tube/stock ... purdy!

Re: Bolt Knob???

James, some would argue that money can be spent in better places. It all depends on what you are using your ADL for and what you expect to get out of it.

Lets say you are running a bone stock Rem 700 ADL in .308. Getting your trigger tuned or getting an aftermarket trigger would be a good idea. Also having quality optics and mounts is always good.

But getting a bolt knob conversion is always a nice touch with many practical advantages as well as just sexin' up your rifle.

Re: Bolt Knob???

A knob is the simplest essential upgrade you can do. It makes it so much easier to manipulate, and it looks great too.

you gots better things to worry about besides "bolt manipulation"

Re: Bolt Knob???

The ADL is less desirable because you cannot "dump" the ammo or remove a mag. You have to cycle the bolt to empty the rifle. I have an ADL, dont have a problem with how to empty it. I also do not feel like spending the money to upgrade to a BDL or DBM. The conversion can cost considering the cost of the parts, and either inletting your current stock, or purchasing a stock set up for BDL.

Re: Bolt Knob???

I install quite a few bolt knobs, and agree with a lot of what's been said here, with a few caveats.

If your ADL is a sporter barrel gun used primarily as a hunting rig, pushing through the brush, I would probably advise against a bolt knob, due to the increased handle length getting in the way while you push through the woods.

Now, if that's a project rifle to be a tactical rig, a bolt knob is a good upgrade, but in good time. Until you have a good quality stock, a trigger job, and quality scope mounts, I'd hold off on the knob, just because the other things are more essential items. I recommend a bolt knob, but all in good time.

Re: Bolt Knob???

This gun has the 26in bull barrel and x-mark trigger from factory. I dont take my guns into brush. Mostly to and from stand with shooting for fun. Im working with Mark from Short action customs on a better stock now and gonna put a swaroski on it next year.
