I was wondering If all mounting bases are basically the same? besides the 20 MOA? If not what are some good quality ones and ones to stay away from?

Cheap ones can be out of spec, which in turn can torque your scope and create nice ring marks. There are good inexpensive bases, though. I recommend the Weaver Tactical bases (20 MOA if your scope allows for it). Regardless of how much you spend on it, if its going on a 700, it should be bedded.

Not all bases are created equal...Temp9 makes valid points. I would stick with one piece bases and yes, bed them.

Warne makes some good stuff, go for it.

I just bought a TPS Steel Alloy base for my 10fp. It is very nice. Not cheap, and not overly expensive. I bedded it because the action required it.
