Alright guys so I need a little help. I can't think for the life of me why this would be happening. So I have a new AR that I just finished up and took out to the range today. However I have found that the bolt is constantly locking up in battery, it does this both with and without a round in the chamber. At first I thought it might be a simple lubing issue, so after returning home and lubing the ever living hell out of the bolt and carrier I have found that the problems persist. In fact I find when this malfunction occurs mortaring is the only way to clear it. What could be my culprits?

Re: Bolt sticking in battery

Just a guess here, but possibly an improperly installed barrel extension, or a bolt that's slightly out of spec? Tolerance stack may be just over the edge if you've got all the "wrong" parts working against one another.

Re: Bolt sticking in battery

Check the bolt, extension, and the gas key for any odd wear. Look for any metal shavings.

I had an AR do this to me, was a 308, the extractor had a burr on it from something, I guessed it was sand that got in there as the wind was blowing stupid hard.
