Rifle Scopes Bore sight

Re: Bore sight

it just gets you on paper....

don't piss away your money.....use your eyeball, remove the bolt and bag up the rifle ...peek the glass and make the adjustment to
the bore....and shazam......you are on paper using the MK1MOD1

Re: Bore sight

i don't use lazers or any fancy stuff, just an eyeball through the barrel with the bolt out, center a spot that's placed 50 yards out, and correct rosshairs until they are on the same spot.

usually within 2", some more adjustment, usualluy hits the spot on the 3rd shot. at 100 usually 1.25 +/- high.

Re: Bore sight

How are you bore sighting? Are you taking it to some one and they are hooking up what ever boar sighter to your rifle? Or are you going out to the range and sand bagging down your rifle removing your bolt find your target through the bore and adjust your scope from there? I never used the first one, I have always done it my self with the second method with a 8" shoot-n-see @100 yrds and I get with in about 1-2 moa and then just fine tune after that. I hope that helps.

Re: Bore sight

I was going to have a guy at a gun shop do it for me. I guess it would be a waste of time if i can get relatively close myself. Thanks for the input. I always did it the old school before and just shot untill I got it there. Just spent a lot of ammo in the process

Re: Bore sight

Its heaps easy to do if you know the math behind it.

I zeroed my 17hmr with a total of about 3 shots.

The first two shots were just to get the paper at 50m. Those two shots were then grouped and the amount of elevation and windage required calculated, doubled because i was at 50m, and then she was zeroed for 100m.

The 3rd shot was within 1" of the centre target at 100m.

I recently zeroed my .308 and to some shame it was out of the paper by a few inches at 100m so i had to go back to 50m and start there... pain in the bum
