I have a Remington VSSF w/ factory H.S Precision stock that I would like to have new bottom metal for. The rifle is a .223 and I have looked at the factory H.S bottom metal but would like the choice of using 10rd mags if I want to. What would be my best choice for bottom metal that I can use 10rd mags with and that will drop into the H.S stock?

Re: Bottom Metal Choice Fo H.S Stock

CDI has good bottom metal and will inlett your stock for around $70. His bottom metal accepts the AI mags. Get in on the .223 magazine group buy, they're AI magazines as well, you'll be set.

ncyotecaller,

Your two wishes; 10 round 223 capacity and drop-in to an H-S stock are not compatible.

Even the H-S DBM is not just drop in, to their own stock. It requires about 2 minutes work with round file. Not much, but then again no ten round capacity.

Currently there are no ten round DBM 223 mags in existence, for a Remmy bolt. AICS is working on it, but it is vapor wear as yet.

Right now the only two viable 223 DBM's are H-S, and Seekins. Neither has a ten round capacity. So wait for the AICS, or not. In any event any AICS solution is not drop-in for your H-S stock. You or somebody will have to inlet for it.

Re: Bottom Metal Choice For H.S Stock

Thanks for all the good information! I don't really need 10rd capacity just thought if there is anything like that out there for my application I might as well get something I can use 10 ir 5 round mags with. I like the idea of single stack mags instead of the stagger feed factory box magazine for more reliable feeding. I will probably look into the H.S bottom metal more since my gun will be used for hunting purposes.
