Dodge makes some mean machines. I used to work at a place where a guy drove that same car past me on his way home everyday. Lets just say I knew if he worked late or left work on time.

Nice - there are a lot of good things to be said about an American RWD sedan with 475 HP and a touch of bad attitude. I had an '06 300C SRT8 that was a good car, and I'm sure another 50 HP only makes things better.

It’s a blast. Wanted one forever. But with my son I need the 4 door. It still gets wild as shit! Can’t imagine what the hellcats do.

Say no more - Dodge has us covered:

I want one of these, badly, but it doesn't seem like the wisest place for me to allocate $90k at this moment. Given the limited production, it's gonna remain an object of distant lust.

I went from my srt to an f150 with the 5.0 in it. It would do 0-60 in like 2 days and I really missed having that get up and go.

Finally broke down and got the best of both worlds this year with a raptor and I’ve been loving it!

My '08 F-250 is a couple tenths quicker in the 1/4-mile than my old SRT8, even though it traps about 7 MPH slower. Gets better fuel mileage, too :p

What you do to that truck? That has to be like 1000hp

Nope - only 575 HP or so at the wheels. It just makes that power like right now and puts it down to the track, even with shitty test-n-tune night prep. Launching in 4WD with as much boost as the brakes will hold leaves behind a lot of faster cars in a cloud of black smoke. But run this race out just past the end of the 1/4, and those cars will come screaming by at 115+ MPH. It'll also get creamed from a roll, so it's a bit of a one-trick pony (well, other than the fact that it does all that other truck stuff like towing and hauling and off-roading).

The guys who are making real numbers closer to quadruple figures are the ones who outrun my modded ZL1.

I had a BMW 540it, with the M package, it was the last “cool” car I had.

A friend still has something like that - I believe it's a 2000 or '01 with a six speed and M sport package. It's the sort of car that totally blows away any expectations one might have from reading the spec sheet. It's also been a bit of a PITA as it ages, but the car is good enough to justify the upkeep (particularly in light of the fact that it can't be replaced with anything equivalent from a new car lot).

It literally was the best driving car I’ve driven, save for the actual mint 05 M5 I thought about buying. $75k was a bit much for me 14 years ago lol.

Once you get 400+hp going on a 3500 pound (or less) vehicle, things get rather exciting quickly.

Yep, that's a pretty good metric for a streetable car with workable suspension geometry and good DOT tires. Move this towards 500 HP and 3250 lbs (C6Z06 or GT3 territory) and then we're really talking.

My ZL1 is more like 750 HP and 4050 lbs, and while it's hugely entertaining to blow past any number of "proper" sports cars at a track day, the cost of consumables is a bit eye-watering, and to be perfectly honest, it's not necessarily the most fun car to drive at the limit. It sticks like glue right up to the limit; step over that line, and it's time to do some four-off landscaping 😲

Meanwhile, the dude that shows up in a stock C7 Grand Sport is coming in from each session with a permagrin. Yeah, balance is good.

I'm not a Dodge guy, but I do appreciate the engine packages they are rolling out with their vehicles.

"Hellcat all the things!" is pretty much their engineering and marketing approach at the moment, and damn if it ain't working for them.

Enjoy the fun now, because I'm gonna guess that Stellantis will be far less entertaining. Well, unless Renault-Nissan really gets someone's blood pumping, in which case this should be a great time.

Dude, I can't agree more. Everytime I ever get away from a truck, van or full size SUV I hate life.

I know, I’m a glutton for punishment. That was the 2nd SRT I bought. Sold the first one after about a year because I needed a truck too much. Bought the 2nd one thinking it would be different that time and I’d just use my wife’s suv. Nope.... back to the truck.

I’ve decided I will also need to keep a truck if I ever get another car.

It already makes me shit my pants!

I can barely keep it in a straight line now! Drove it 100 miles from the dealer and parked it in the garage. I just go out and look at it. Lol
Funny thing about fast cars buddy, once you get bit, you just keep wanting more. I sold my last fast car in 2008. Although I do have a 430lb 100hp stroked shovel head. With no front brake and a foot clutch. Talk about shitting your pants. Lol

It’s funny because I was the same way when I first got mine. I was amazed at the acceleration.

After a little time you get used to it and your like “meh, I wonder what I could do to make it faster”

Yep:

1) Stock - this thing's pretty fast! Wonder what it'd do with a pulley + tune...
2) Wonder what it'd do with cam, headers, injectors, and a bigger pulley?
3) That's nice. I should do bigger injectors so I can run E85.
4) The blower is now the restriction, and if I fix that, I might as well port the heads.
5) Why did the last set of rear tires only last 2000 miles?

Sell the car, move on to something else, repeat the process.
