It came in the mail today. I had every intention of returning it, and then I held it in my hands and through "sweet 7.5 pound Baby Jesus, this thing is nice".
I got it from Stockeys on sale for $400. I had some store credit, and an itch, so I hit the order button.
First thoughts are that it is not as nice of a fit and finish as any McMillan or Manners with the mold in camo that I have owned. The mold line is more distinct, and more "offensive" to the eye. But the ergonomics and feel of it are awesome. I only have one long action 700 clone (an ARC long in 300 Win, with a barloc). It doesn't quite fit and hangs up on the barloc.
I ordered pair of ARC Nucleus actions in .308 bolt face long and .308 bolt face short.
It will take a trip to the gunsmith when I get back from my hunt next week to open up for a Magpul 700 long action bottom metal (talk about light) and I'll have my gunsmith install a Savage take off barrel I have in 6.5 Creedmoor after he chambers it in 6.5-284, and installs it into long .308 bolt face ARC..
Going to make a nice elk, antelope and sheep rifle for 2020. Until I shred the barrel in about 750 rounds. Then I'll order a Proof in 280 Ackley and start all over again. If I didn't have this barrel I'd just order a PR in 280, but that is another story.
The only fear I have for it, is that the comb height is too low for the Nucleus with a 20 MOA rail. I'll have to find a 30mm Scope with a small objective to put on it. Like a 44mm or maybe if I am lucky a 50mm.
