I've got about 23k acres that I've had leased to a new england corporation for the past 15 years. Well the recent economy in turn caused them to drop the lease.

We're approx 40 deer/sq. mi. For those of you who bow hunt, would you pay more for a lease for several thousand acres if I restricted it to bow only and no guns? Or should I just leave it as is?

Thanks.

definately, just trying to figure out the best use for the land at this point and cater to whomever and whatever demand is out there.

As a rifle/bowhunter, when I am bowhunting, I prefer it to be only bows. You would be able to get several more hunters on the property going bows only for sure. A bowhunters club would be excellent...

Splitting up the property you have would honestly serve you best I would think.

I think "bow only" areas work best on low-density lands. I would bet you would have problems in the long-run if firearms weren't used to "thin the herd." While I love to bowhunt, I realize their limitations in terms of reaching harvest goals.

I don't know about the area the land is in, but around here (and most of the SE), a white-tailed deer/16 acres would take VERY good habitat to support.

You could offer any sex bow hunt (could charge more with the prospect of bow guys getting some bigger deer). Could draw more bow hunters that are looking for that. You would need to cull the herd (as you more than likly know already) and to offer doe hunting up to rifle/shotgun guys. Its a way to raise money as well as take care of your herd (just dont shoot those buttin bucks!). Just an idea though. So for my input do I get a free hunt

Sorry, ranch is in Texas. We have an airstrip but that hasnt been maintained in 2 years.

If anyone is interested, pm me and we can work something out. I'll go 5 dollars an acre.

I am helping out on a plantation just up the road from you. We seperated 500 acres roughly for bow only. It certainly adds some uniqueness but also decreases marketability.
