Based on an easier thread, quickly re-realizing reloading isn’t for me.

I have been shooting the Berger ammo with lapua SRP brass and selling it. Since that load is hard to come by I am looking to make a switch for the time being.

My rifle like the federal stuff and the Prime stuff.

both are LRP brass, the prime being Peterson, federal being....?

here’s the question, is there a market of interest is buying once fired federal or Prime/Peterson brass here or elsewhere? Getting to offset the cost of the Berger’s with the sale of the lapua brass was great...

Thanks

MM

You will have an easier time selling the prime brass as it is Peterson and is really good brass, I will not load Federal brass as the primer pockets go to shut real quick

It’s not necessarily due to primer pockets. Gassers fuck up brass. Bolt gun fired FGMM has no problem selling. Primer pockets are fine if you stick to FGMM level performance. The problem is when people who don’t know what they’re doing use the wrong data and then come on here to complain.

I have loaded a shit load of FGM brass for 308 and not a hot load and get 3 firings out of it before I have loose primer pockets, i loaded Winchester brass for my 6.5 SLR and run it pretty hard and had 14 loads before the primer pockets let go. The new Winchester brass is not near as good that is why I switched to Peterson and will not look back.

Your Prime brass is probably made by RUAG (Norma). Prior to this year, Prime 6.5 ammo was made by RUAG, the European company that owns Lapua, Berger Bullets, Norma, Vihtavouri, RWS, Geco, etc. I got Prime 6.5 that was made by RUAG and it shot very well. I just got the American made Prime 6.5 from the SH Group Buy and have not shot it yet, but the brass is stamped "Peterson".

The RUAG Prime is still good brass and people will buy it, probably for somewhere around .25 to .35 each. The FGMM will also sell but probably for less than that.

I don’t have enough prime brass to shake a stock at, it was spotty to get when I started. Now that it’s available and the brass is desirable I may go to that instead of federal.
