I've got a new 6.5x47 pva barrel buttoned that's having issues with heavy bolt lift and brass marks. Using lapua brass, cci 450, varget and 140 hybrids. It was cleaned before the first shot I loaded up 36.5, 36.7, 36.9, 37.1, 37.3, and 37.5 also loaded up 4 at 37 just to shoot a group all were 20 thou off the lands. I looked in the barrel and found what looks to be grooves where the shoulder is in the chamber. The primers and look good and no other brass Mark's. I've got another pva 6.5x47 that shoots great with none of these issues.

Might be hitting the ejection port edge as it gets kicked out of the receiver.

You'll need a borescope to check for burrs in the chamber. There's a $50 one on Amazon made by Telling that's impossible to beat for the money.

Any burrs or other anomalies in the chamber can become hot spots driving up chamber temperatures and pressures.

Give Patriot Valley a call; perhaps they will exchange it out for you...wouldn’t shoot it again otherwise, unless you determine it’s something else and can fix it.

Thanks guys I'm pretty sure its barrel I found some other marks in the shoulder area that protrude, like the should area in the chamber is gouged. I can run my fingernail across this area pointed out and it catches, the pictures aren't very good you can definitely see protrusion.

Get a borescope so you're not guessing as to what's going on inside:

Get the newer model. Its essentially built into a cleaning rod with a nice handle and all instead of the limp noodle cable.

Guys I've contacted PVA and we're going through the motions right now to get this resolved, they need pics and info before wanting to start the return process. I also wanted to post another pic that I think shows exactly what's going on.

I'm also wondering how they plan on fixing it, any material taken out of the chamber will mess with the headspace, I guess they could take some off the shoulder of the barrel as well. I'd rather just get a new barrel.
