Brass question

Last night I was prepping some 300WM brass and noticed something I couldn't explain. While trimming and deburring I noticed some of the cases had irregular thicknesses at the neck. I measured some of them and they varied as much as 6 thou from say 6 o'clock to 12 o'clock. What would cause that irregularity? It is only on about 10% of the brass. FYI it is twice fired Winchester brass bought new.

Thanks

Re: Brass question

That is not uncommon on necks of brass. It happens during the manufacturing process. When you seat a bullet, you will also get a lot bullet run-out. I typically will throw them out, since it is not good for accuracy. .006" is a large difference. I've had some Remington brass have the same issue.
