Bravo Co. MK12 MOD0 uppers

I'm looking to get a 5.56 gas gun that would be good for competition (tactical as a secondary weapon and perhaps a 3 gun rifle), adn I'm looking hard at getting something SPRish.

I'm not looking to get an exact build with identical parts to the REAL MK12 MOD0, but something reasonably close, and something that will perform well out to 500 or 600 yards.

With this in mind I'm looking at the Bravo Co uppers which simulate it, the MK12 MOD0 Bravo in specific, and I'm wondering if anyone has used any of these, and if they are any good. BCM has a good reputation, and I do use their charging handles (which rule). I realize there are certain differences (barrel twist for instance), and am not overly concerned about those.

Specs:

PRI Gen III 12" Carbon Fiber Handguard (Natural Finish)
PRI Folding Front Sight Base
BCM SS410 18" Barrel, Polished Stainless (1:8 twist)
Rifle Length Gas System
BCM Bolt Carrier Group (HPT/MPI), auto
Standard BCM Charging Handle

See High Caliber Sales on here... Kevin O'Neil, his Mk12s are built by AJ Brown who worked for Crane and built a lot of rifles there.

Well I zeroed a Mk12 upper I got from him, and with Black Hills 75gr ammo I had, using a NF 2.5-10X24 scope the rifle shot a solid .5 MOA at 100 yards out of the gate. I zeroed it last week at Trigger Time an indoor range so I had to shoot it from their benches, which I hate bench shooting, but the gun was insanely accurate.

Trigger Time gun club is one of the most expensive places I have ever seen and while newer than most other indoor ranges in the Denver area, the facilities aren't exactly double-the-price-or-more better than the others.

Their pricing for memberships makes me want to throw up even though they are probably easily the closest indoor range to my house.

Sorry I realize its completely off topic, but had to get that out of my system.

Whatever dude, the facility rocks, indoor centerfire, plus pistol, they have a chronograph set up, spotters on the line. The have a great inventory and are super nice guys... I have a year membership and it paid off for me in spades last week, when my Daughter was off from school. We shot there everyday for 4 hours a day, she through more than 2000 rounds, and loved every minute.

Those are great looking rifles and I'm sure they shoot lights out, but is a few hundred above my planned budget. I'm looking at NO MORE than $1200 for the upper (I already have a lower), and the BCM is right there at the edge of my budget.

Thanks though.

Another plus 1 for High Caliber Sales. If not the full upper buy his Mk12 barrel. I did and I am very happy with it. Kevin is also a super nice guy. Pleasure to do business with.

Here's my build using his Mk12 bbl. It shoots xm193 in the 1-1.5MOA range. On a clear day with very little wind I was able to hit a 13"x22" steel plate at 750yds 70% of the time using xm193. I'm certain with Mk262 or a similar load it would perform way better. And of course it's limited to my shooting skills which aren't all that great.

I plan on loading my own Mk 262 clone, which should be more accurate.

Ordered my BCM MK12 Mod 1 (KAC/RAS) tonight. Will let you know how it shoots in a week. I have to go back to school sunday but i'll have plenty of time to shoot during spring break. I have no doubt it will shoot. Reading reviews on BCM's 18" SPR barrel people are getting Sub MOA results.

That looks like a blast, Im sure you are proud of her. And I think she has your gun. The pink one, right?

No beef with the range services and its really the only indoor centerfire range in the area that I can think of, but I think you and I will have to agree to disagree on the value question. $60/month plus $600 up front for my wife and I to use the range facilities is pretty painful compared to most other local clubs or public facilities in the Denver area.

Re: Bravo Co. MK12 MOD0 uppers

Absolutly love these configurations, but I can't seem to bring myself to a .223 round. Lethality of the 75-77 grn. rounds to 600 yds enough on yotes or "2 legged critters"? 6mmAR would be a hoot but ammo is definately short on availability...

Woops, did'nt mean to hijack

I already shoot a 6.5 Grendel which is lights out at range, but some competitions require a .223 or .308 as a secondary weapon. I don't really want a .308 gas gun (nor a .223 really as I already have my SHTF gun), but I figure that if I get one, it might as well fit on my lowers rather than having to buy a whole new gun. In other words, the only thing I'm looking to kill is some steel and paper.

The 77gr is still delivering more energy at 600 yards than many .40 and .45 rounds are at the muzzle. At 1000 yards, it's delivering about the energy of a .380 (assuming another yote down range doesn't fart and throw it off target)
