got a new sps 308, how many shots do you think it takes for a barrel break in? Ive always been told 70-80 but i was just wondering what others guys thought.

Re: break in

go to any of your barrel manufacturers...Krieger, Bartlien, benchmark, Brux...etc they all have recommend break in procedures pick one and follow it...there is no set round count differs for most barrels.

Re: break in

200 to 300. It isn't really until it breaks in as much as it is when it settles in.

Or, you could use Final Finish and complete the process in 20 rounds.

Re: break in

Simple brake in procedure.
1) Go to range
2) Chamber a round
3) Aim and squeeze trigger
4) Repeat until ammunition is depleted

Now your barrel is properly broken-in and you are ready to continue shooting. Really though forget brake-in procedures and just start shooting your rifle.
