I broke down and bought a new Cooper this afternoon. I have been wanting one for a long time. I have a few Kimber of Oregon rifles. But this Cooper is suppose to be a step above the KofO. We will see. A dealer had the one in stock that I wanted. So I need to make arrangemets with my FFL, then I will get it in. I sure hope it is a shooter, the rifle has a decent piece of wood on it. My fingers are crossed. Tom.

Re: Broke Down-New Cooper

I have yet to hear of anyone that is disappointed in their Cooper. I haven't gotten one of their rimfires yet but centerfire wise, I love mine!

Is this one coming with any options?

Re: Broke Down-New Cooper

I have a M-36, which was their early action, with a stainless match grade barrel on a blued receiver. I was smart enough to pick up four extra 5 round magazines for it when I bought it years ago. I like it. Enjoy shooting your new Cooper.

Re: Broke Down-New Cooper

I've got a Montana Varmint Extreme in 17 HMR, and it is flat awesome, shoots bugholes regularly, several different types of ammo. I've been trying to find gainful employment for almost 2 years now, so I've put a 22 on the back burner, but I will have one. I doubt SERIOUSLY that you will get one that won't shoot well, I'm sure you will like that rifle a lot.

Congrats!!

Re: Broke Down-New Cooper

What model did you get? I have a JSR 22lr that I had threaded for a host. That is my favorite rifle of all time. Quite and Accurate as hell. This is my 3rd Cooper, and won't be my last. You will love it.

Re: Broke Down-New Cooper

Nice, you will love it. The hardest part about being able to enjoy a Cooper is learning to use it. I was way to scared of messing up that wood or scratching the gun. After I realized that I will never part with it, I was finally able to take it out and not baby it. It has a perminate place at the front of my safe and gets taken out the most. My smith was trying to talk me out of doing the threading job, maybe I made a mistake in others eyes but I would do it over again in a heart beat.

I bought the rifle to use. Not sit in the safe. I have a few Kimber of Oregon rifles that I have been using for over 20 years. I take good care of my rifles. But they do get shot. Tom.

Yes, the Cooper 57M uses the Anschutz magazine.

The Weatherby XXIX or what ever, uses the same mag, but with a "W" engraved on the bottom.

Re: Broke Down-New Cooper

I found that I like the mags with that red polymer base. Makes it easier to handle, easier to load/unload rifle.

I love cooper's, I already have 4 crows taken this morning while cruzing this board. I love the country.

Here she is.

Re: Broke Down-New Cooper

nice gun. I have had several different coopers over the years and all of them were tack drivers. I was never disappointed by any of them, they make a great rifle. all of mine have been center fire tho
