I rather fall into the "lighten up Francis" category when it comes to people laying up for a rainy day; whether they be retailers, manufacturers or those of us who prefer to buy 8lb jugs of powder or 5000 primers at a time.
I don't particulary like the asswipes purchasing (which means they are buyers for resale)from retailers in order to post items on auction sites, gunshows or otherwise for dramatic markups. They shoud buy from wholsalers for that purpose or are likely avoiding the costs associated with the honest wholesalers and retailors.
That said, none of them have a gun to our heads, forcing us to buy.
It's extreme sport commerce as I see it and while I'd prefer to buy just what I need, when I need it, I now feel I must think more prospectively about many things, including supplies for my hobby.
Those of us in hurricane prone areas are ( or should be) planning ahead to lay in our month long supply of food, water and other supplies, materials and contingencies: if my generator is running after huricane TeraPatrick wipes out the power grid (assuming I'm spared the destruction she's capable of), there will doubtless be people resentful of my preparedness.
As greasy smoke from my grill signals hot food (and cold beverages) to those who were less fortunate and those who failed to plan ahead, there will also be arms and ammunition handy; in case the resentful become motivated to do more than make changes in their buying practices.
And yes, I would arrogate unto myself, the decision to sell or donate any of my own stock of provisions, tools, building materials or any other items in my possession to those in "need" at a price or time I deem fitting.
PM me if you want to discuss my views of gouging laws when it comes to the things I own. It's complicated and nuanced and probably a touch political so...
