Sweet 17™ Rifle Scopes 3x12x40 The main features of the Sweet 17™ are their ability to compensate for bullet trajectory by specific grain weight. The elevation drum will compensate for both .17/17HMR and .20gr has anyone used one of these? i had one of the older scopes and the turret would move to easy. seems like they fixed that with this scope.

A buddy of mine has one of their Sweet 22 scopes. It's pretty close but he hasn't had the time to try a lot of different brands of ammo yet.

i used to use BSAs before. 3 of them as a matter of fact. 2 of the supposed top of the line target platinums. after about 3 years they got all greyish and dark. then they wouldn't hold a zero. i sent 1 back, when i got back the replacement, the same thing happened within 2 years. when i got a replacement for that, i gave it away for free. i will never get one again, even if someone want to give me one. seems as soon as you tweek everything out, the scope goes bad and you start all over again. that was on a .22 lr, and a Ar-15.
you'ld probably be better served with a centerpoint, tasco, simmons, or even a barska (for something in the same price catagory). spend a couple of hours with some ammo and make up some scope dope on what is actually happening with your actual equipment.
different ammo shoots differently out of different rifles. if you don't happen to have the same set up that the turrets were based on, the turrets don't matter too much.
granted you'll still be in the neighborhood, by an inch or so depending on distance, but nothing beats real data from a real setup.
i was never a fan of the pre-determined reticles or turrets for that reason. just my 2 cents.

+1 on what predator said. bsa sadly cant even hold on a rimfire, and the turrets will mostly likely do more harm than good (although i have never actually used one). ive tried both tasco and barska scopes on a rimfire, and they beat out my expectations. if you dont have the money to get better glass than those, then one of those two should do just fine

I had a bsa sweet 22, the turrets were spot on. For the money it was a decent scope. The crosshairs were a little thick for truely target shooting, so I got rid of it. For what its worth, it worked well for me, but I only had it for about 9 months.

Former owner of a sweet 17.
Wind blew my rifle over and broke the turret first day out.
They wanted ten bucks + shipping to fix it.
I did not want to throw any more money down that hole.
Did not last long enough to check if elevations were right.

Just say no to BSA!
It is almost the quality of the dreaded Counter Sniper (please forgive that I used that name).
I have never seen one last long. They will not hold zero under ANY amount of recoil.

I have one on my 93r17 and so far I've found nothing wrong with it.I had a Barska and it looked decent until you looked through it.It had a yellow tint to it and you had to adjust it twice before it did anything.I'd shoot about 2in. high at 100yds. and have to move it 12 clicks before it went down.I had the BSA set up within 9 shots(3-3shot groups at 100yds).
For the money you can't beat it IMO.I have the older one I think though.Mine only has the drum for 17gr.Like tansinator said though,the crosshairs are on the thick side.That's about the only con I've seen in it.
Another decent scope I picked up recently is the Tasco 6-24x42 Varmint scope.I read a lot,and I mean a lot,of bad things about Tasco but I found nothing wrong with it and actually think it's a great scope especially for the price.I found it hard to base buying a scope on reviews.You have to be the one to decide and try out what fits your budget/criteria.

Mounted a Sweet 22 scope on my fiancee's Ruger 10/22, she likes it so I figure not worth the time to play around with the different knobs. I mounted a Mueller APV scope on one of my .17hmr's and a Nikko Sterrling on the other.

I would not get a BSA. On mine Point of impact shifts when you go up and down on the power ring. You can see this when you use a bore sighting tool with a grid pattern to look at. Put the rifle or action in a vise then attach the bore sighting tool. Look into the scope without moving your head now move the power ring up and down and you will see that point of impact shifts on the sweet series scopes. I have tried this test on a number of scopes and for this reason BSA is at the bottom of the list on All of the scopes I have used or currently using.

Take a look where the BSA stand. The only thing worse on my list from personal experience was the Fake Leupold and that was because the glass had air bubbles in them.
