I have my deer rifle it's a remmy 700 .270 sps. Not really that accurate, I don't need it to shoot more than 200yds. Anyways I had the trigger done and want a low buck light stock to get rid of the crap one that came on it. It a hs takeoff my best bet for $200 or less?

An HS precision or Bell and Carlson can come with a aluminum bedding block for just a bit more than $250

Stocky's New Rifle Stocks - America's Gunstock Specialist!

You can look for an older Bell and Carlson carbilite stock, but it does not have a bedding block and will most likely need to be pillar bedded.

Another option is a Remington CDL take off stock. Comes with a nice decelerator pad and treated walnut. I picked one up for $90 on the bay.

or a Boyds Laminate stock for under $100

For a laminate, I will say yes. I have a laminate prairie hunter stock in nutmeg and its pretty solid. If you go the laminate route, i would pay the extra for the laser checkering. They can get a bit slippery.

This rifle is not mine, but the stock is the same.

Funny thing is I have four stocks for the same rifle, cheap remington plastic, Boyds laminate, Remington CDL takeofff, and the original BDL fine walnut.
