Hello members,
I am looking to get some insight on purchasing a suppressor. I am not in need of the most expensive suppressor out there. I would like something to throw on my bolt action 6.5 CM that would just eliminate some noise. I was considering only spending a few hundred dollars, but I didn't want to completely cheap out if it would effect the accuracy. I am looking for any suggestions for budget suppressors for bolt guns and feedback to see if the cheaper ones would negatively effect my guns accuracy. Thanks.

These things are with you for life. Budget is t a word most would chose to use in tandem with suppressor purchases.

If the expense is a burden, figure out what your ceiling is and go from there. You’re probably going to land on YHM, but I’ll always recommend Thunder Beast.

A suppressor is a "forever" buy. It's going to take many months of waiting, a $200 tax stamp, and once you get it, you are pretty much stuck with it due to the legalities and difficulties of selling a used suppressor.

So why cheap out? Would certainly suck to spend $200 on a tax stamp and ~9-12 months waiting for a product that you may end up regretting.

I guess if the sole purpose of a suppressor is to eliminate noise and the more expensive ones eliminate more noise, i'm not worried about getting it as quiet as possible. I know that most suppressors increase velocity but i'm sure the cheaper ones do that too. I guess my concern is whether or not the more affordable ones negatively affect the accuracy.

Is YHM a decent half way option?

Not all suppressors are made the same, and not all suppressor manufactures offer the same customer service. I have quite a few cans now and started with 1 thinking it would be my only.

Not going to force you to spend more than you are comfortable with, but TBAC is best in precision rifle suppressors and customer service.

All of them will suppress the blast, make other shooters talk to you, and make chicks wanna be with you. Some just do a better job and offer better service when shit breaks/needs care.

Coastal Guns runs about $550 for a .30 cal can. I have ran .243 Win and .270 Win. through it and you do not need hearing protection. The thing is built like a tank, so not light, it improves accuracy or doesn't change accuracy for what I've put it on.

Gotta agree. Get the Thunderbeast if you can.

Before I went YHM I'd look at Elite Iron. You may be able to score one of those instead. SS but built for accuracy like the TBAC. They do top notch work too but are able to keep the costs down by using 316SS. Dale is a metallurgist and claims the exotics aren't really necessary to build a good can (though he may use something different for the blast baffle, I'm not certain). Will index cans to fit your threads too, offers any color Cerakote.

Why? Because you own one? YHM has been in business since the 50's and will more than likely be in business longer if legislation ever comes into play since YHM does way more than just cans. Also, YHM will give you a new can and pay the stamp if they can't repair it. 316SS may be good enough but Inconel is better, which what YHM uses for their baffles. YHM also EDM wire cuts their bores. Does Elite Iron do that? And the Resonator is 16oz. I'll admit that I haven't researched elite iron but I doubt their full size 30 cal can is less than 16oz unless they're using titanium. And anybody that has suppressors knows that oz hanging off the end of your gun makes a difference

My first can was from Palmetto State Defense through Silencer Shop. I think I paid $550.00. It does what it's supposed to. I have since acquired two other more expensive cans from other manufactures and can't tell the difference in noise suppression. That said I only have 50% of the hearing in one ear to begin with so maybe that's a moot point. I don't really care about POI change. I make a note of it as a just-in-case but don't typically plan to shoot without the cans anyway.

YHM is a good choice. They are well build and can take a ton of abuse. You likely won’t need their customer service, but I’ve never heard/read any complaints. Every time I called them, a human answers the phone. Buy the YHM if they possess the features you want, you will not regret it.

I'm going to echo everyone here. You have to pay $200 for this damn thing and wait an ungodly amount of treasonous time to get it.

If it takes you another 2-3 months to save up to get something that will fill a role better and is better quality do it. DB rating is not the only measure of a suppressor. Tone, attachment method, flash (if that matters to you), weight, support, durability and use should all be factors in deciding.

TBAC Ultra 9 in 30 cal
Silencerco Saker 556 ASR

Both fill their roles well and no regrets on either one. Haven’t used customer service but heard great things from those that have on here.

Like has already been said you’ll have it forever. So try to pick a company that will likely be around for a while. Would suck to get a baffle strike etc and not have a company to at least be able to send it to for a fix. Turns an very nice tool into a shitty paperweight

I’ve shot TBAC, SilencerCo 556 ASR and Omega and YHM and I think you’d be happy with any of them. TBAC being the lightest in weight that I’ve shot
