So I am wondering how much velocity I would gain building the prc over the ackley. Would I need a different action than the bighorn tl3 or just the new bolt head? Are velocities going to be close? Experience would be great . If I do the ackley all I have to buy is dies. If I do the prc I have to buy brass dies and a bolt head. Planning on finishing at 28" mtu 1-8 krieger. Thanks

The prc has 25% more capacity give or take, so the ackley is never gonna touch it. I’d guess 150-200 fps faster. You should be able to do it with just a bolt head swap. Accurate WSM mags would be wise too.

Anyone tried RL26 in a .260 ackley or 6.5x55 Ackley?

ETA: as far as barrel life, my 6.5 SAUM hit 1000 rounds today and I think the throat has moved forward something like .020". Printed a .420" 5-shot group @ 100 checking zero. Rifling corners are rounding a bit, and some light fire checking. A lot of folks on the 6.5 4s FB page were saying 2000-2500 should be pretty normal for that chambering, I'd expect the PRC to be a little better for barrel life, but it really is totally dependent on powder/bullet choice and how hard you run it.

The 260 ai seems to do close to 3k from what I've seen. I havent followed the PRC but I have a 6.5 saum and I am barely over 3k with it. I know some have pushed it a lot faster but there are a lot in the same range that I'm in. For 60 grains of powder I am not too impressed. The 6.5x55 improved is also getting some great numbers.
