Building 18" ar10 308, do I need adj. gas block to run suppressed?

You don't absolutely need one, but an AGB will help smooth it out. If you don't want an AGB, you can use the VLTOR A5 buffer system, or just run a heavier buffer that will function, and/or a gemtech bolt carrier that will bleed off gas out the ejection port. There are low profile AGB if you want to bury it under the hand guard, and still have the ability to adjust/tune it. SLR are good, and Superlative Arms are worth a look.

+1, Also the SLR's come with a 5" allen wrench to reach under the handguard.

I would get an adjustable gas block. Even if your 18" barrel has a rifle length gas system it will be over gassed when you run it suppressed. The Superlative arms is a nice option for an adjustable gas block since its bleeds off some unused gas. Also it is adjusted from the front and includes a long allen wrench to fit under the hand guard.

Ok gas block . Got it. Thanks.
Who makes a nice slim 15" hand guard for a better price than Midwest ?

As often as not, "nice slim handguard" and adjustable gas block under hand guard are opposing ideas. Don't marry yourself to the idea of a slim hand guard if you want to put your block under it.

I disagree. I run a Superlative under my 15" Armalite Competition KeyMod handguard just fine. I am running a 20" barrel with a 12" long can (7" past the muzzle) on it, but you can barely see the gas block under the handguard. At $199, it's a very reasonable piece of gear.

Yes, the Superlative Arms and SLR gas blocks will fit under most hand guards.

SLR Helix is my new favorite lightweight hand guard. On an 18" 5.56, suppressed, it doesn't get hot unless you dump a few mags in a row.
