Building a precision rifle that I can hunt with

So here's the plan... I want to send my REM 700 SPS chambered in .30-06 to the boys at GA Precision for surgery. My goal is a very accurate precision rifle that I can hunt with. Hunting for me consists of walking 1/2 mile or less to a tree stand or ground blind. So weight isn't the #1 issue, but I also don't want a 20# rifle either.

Here's what I'm currently thinking:

- 24" Bartlein barrel in #5 contour
- Manners Elite Hunter MCS-EH2 or MCS-EH3 stock
- Oversized bolt knob
- X-Mark Pro Trigger (Tuned)
- One piece base for scope mounting
- CeraKote action and barrel matte black
- Possible GA Camo paint job on the stock
- True action, piller bedding/skim glass, all the other magic GA does, etc...

I'll be handloading the ammo for this rifle and I consider myself a pretty good shooter. My intent with this thread is to see what you guys think about how my plan for this rifle fits its intended purpose.

Thanks!

Here is my 308 precision hunting rifle... Just bought it from Meredith

http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/firearms-sale/223793-meredith-308-multicam-$2500.html

Stiller Tac30/ 20 Moa base/ .300 lug
24" Bartlein 1-11:25 rem varmit
Manners EH1/ BDL chassis, Hydro dipped multicam
Rifle basix trigger @ 2.5lbs
BDL bottom metal
Threaded muzzel 5/8x24 with knurled protector
Metal finished in burnt bronze cerakote
Rifle weighs 8.4lbs

I'm not too savvy on Bartlein's contours. How does the Varmit compare in thickness to a #4 or #5?
