in the process of building my first AR and was wondering if anybody can point me in the right direction as far as a good quality lower parts kit....and is there a big difference between a chrome BCG and a standard one...is it worth the extra $$$ to run a chrome BCG

Re: building my first AR and had ?

It can be all be a lot to soak in when sifting through the mountain of options. The above recommendations for LPKs and BCGs are good. I just bought a Spikes BCG and couldn't be happier. When looking at BCGs chrome isn't needed but be sure what you do buy is chrome lined and the key is properly staked.

Re: building my first AR and had ?

If you plan on getting another trigger anyway I recommend you pick up a LPK without FCG so you're not paying for a trigger you won't use. JP, Fulton and Wilson Combat have LPKs available without FCG. I ran the JP kit through Rainier Arms on my build. You can also get all the parts separately through Midway.

I've had great luck with the BCG's that Surplus Ammo & Arms puts out, I believe theyre produced by Aero Precision. Chrome isnt 'needed' but gives some people added peace of mind

For LPK's, Palmetto State Armory has the lowest prices I've seen for a quality set (<span style="font-style: italic">around or under $50 IIRC</span>), it also gives you the chance of swapping out the stock A2 grip for MOE, at almost no added cost

+1 in my book
