RCBS collet is what I have. I have also had two of the hammer types and broke both of them and never got a bullet loose.

I have the Hornady, no complaints. As long as you can get the collet over the ogive, you'll never damage a bullet.

I'd go with the Forster or Hornady in preference to RCBS. The reason is ergonomics. The handle on either one of those will be in the same position, where you set it, from one round to the next. The collet doesn't rotated in the die body like it does with the RCBS. That said, if you are careful with it and don't over loosen the RCBS when releasing the bullet, any of the three work well.

RCBS inertia. I use the shell holder for the particular cartridge rather than the supplied shell holder arrangement. Haven't broken one in over 15 years, but I did misplace one so now have 2.

I too have broke several hammer types.
Just got a Forester, and getting ready to try it.
Got collets for our two most fave.
Bro will let me know.
Some may be happy pulling, while others shooting.

I have the RCBS and the Hornady collet type. Both work but I like the Hornady a lot better.

I too have never been able to get a bullet loose using the hammer type.

Never?...you sure the bullets weren't "cold welded" to the case...

How are you using the hammer type? Not trying to be PITA, just don't understand you never being successful gettin' the hammer to work. Again not trying to be flippant, just very curious.

Me too...partly because the cam lever allows its use on my turret press. With the others...the other dies get in the way. Thats why it replaced my Forster.

Fuzzball...depends on the collet and the bullet. Lead bullets...you are right on. Too soft and slick. Jacketed, the Forster pulls the 10mm without problems. I think that it would work on most any jacketed that wasn't severely sized and crimped. JMHO

++1 for Hornady Cam-lock bullet puller!
I've not has any problems pulling RNFP lead 45 colt bullets with the Hornady. SWC (or WC) would likely be a different story.
The Hornady or the new forster (use a wrench on it) will both work with the co-ax.

Never NOT been able to pull one with the "hammer" type but next time round, I'll probably be looking for another type. Just neve got comfy smacking the shit out of a live round.

I really like the inertia bullet puller made by Quinetics Corp. It has an adjustable collet/chuck assembly in the "hammer-head" portion which can be adjusted for most any cartridge and has an all metal shaft (much less prone to breakage). This puller has been easy to use and very durable. Link below.

I have a RCBS hammer type and I have never broken one and I have removed hundreds of bullets. May be I am not crimping enough
