I was discussing different collet type bullet pullers last week. I received my Hornady Cam-Lock yesterday. The collets are much smaller that RCBS pullet collets and do not thread at all. So NO the collets are NOT interchangable.

Re: Bullet puller...

Other than that have you gotten a chance to use it yet? If so, what are your thoughts? I have the RCBS unit now and from the limited amount I've used it, I didn't care much for it. I briefly read that the setup is very finicky and could be causing issues but I haven't messed with it to be sure.

Re: Bullet puller...

From my experience the Hornady is much better. I have both and with the Hornady I can pull bullets with absolutely no marring from the puller. Not so much with the RCBS.

Re: Bullet puller...

The Hornady allows you to set the collet up for just the right amount of bullet grip, and keep that setting (there's even a lock nut on the adjustment.)

With the RCBS/Forster types, the adjustment destroyed as you open the collet to release the bullet, so you are constantly re-adjusting them.

And the Hornady even works on the Forster Co-Ax press.

Sinclairs are the best hands down. Quick, easy, no damage to the meplat (hammer type are hard on exposed lead meplats) no threads, one piece, nothing to loose, I could go on & on...

Just better over all!

Are you speaking of the benchrest style "pliers" type? I have one of those too. They work wonderful for light neck tension.

I haven't actually used the Hornady yet. I just took it out and looked at it and a collet together. I think I'm going to like it.

If that's a true statement, I hope you never have to. But I have loaded some too hot before and would rather pull the bullets and start over than fire the rest of the loads.

Re: Bullet puller...

The Hornady works well for me.

It is popular with those who have Redding T-7 presses because the adjacent dies do not interfere with it like the Forster.

Didn't know it worked well with the Co-Ax press...until it was mentioned here.
