Just picked up my rifle and wanted to start to work up a load for it. This will be my first time reloading. Is it best to find a charge and bullet weight the rifle likes first before you start chasing the lands? I'm trying to take little bites first so if something goes wrong it will be alot easier to figure out and fix the problem. Thanks!

What you have to keep in mind is that when you seat to the lands, pressure goes up, so whatever load you develop that has some jump will need to be redone. If you are going to seat to the lands, start low and work up, watching for pressure.

Yeah, I figured I would have to adjust my charge as I chased the lands. I loaded a bunch of rounds at different charge weights and bullet weights to SAAMI specs hoping it would get me in the ballpark, and then go from there. My thinking is find a bullet weight and charge the rifle like first, then chase the lands adjusting the charge, or is this logic flawed?
