Has anybody tried one out?

I currently have an IOR 3-18 on one of my rifles, which is my best scope, and I really like it, except that it's so darn big, and heavy.

My rifles are mostly for hunting, 3-gun, and an occasional, 600 yard match, and I rarely change the settings, once it's sighted in.

Re: Burris 6

Are you talking about the SixX scopes?

If so, my gripes with them are:

1) complete lack of ANY decent reticles (only Burris' proprietary Ballistic Plex crap and their version of the German #4...which isn't bad for a hunting reticle ONLY);

2) capped/covered windage/elevation adjustments;

3) PRICE!! (starting at approx. $800 and going up to nearly $1200)!!

On the positive side, they are likely to have good glass as with most of Burris' higher-end optics, they are relatively light (at only 18oz or so) and compact (<13" in OAL), and certainly the 2-12x magnification range is nice to have on a hunting optic where you may be confronted with short-range, brush shots as well as open field extended range shots.

I would personally look elsewhere if for no other reason than the price tag (which gets you into some pretty incredible optics with more bang for your buck than the Burris could ever offer).

Re: Burris 6

The ballistic plex wouldn't be my first choice, but, I can deal with it, for what the intended uses are going to be.

I prefer capped turrets, especially when out hunting.
