Rifle Scopes burris objective parallax adjustment?

I was thinking about trying a Burris E1 4.5-14x42 for a inexpensive varmint scope, but I have had trouble with other scopes that had the parallax adjustment on the objective end. I have found a side parallax more forgiving, thoughts? Anyone used this scope?

I've had the Burris MTAC 3.5-10x42 for a bit, which also has an adjustable objective. I haven't found any issues with it (obviously a side parallax knob is often more convenient). What issues have you had previously?

I have just found them to be finicky and usualyl not on with the numbers. I had one that I could not get the parallax to straiten out past 300yd, had to send it in.
