Saw some old post where older model xtr ii,s had illumination issues. Just got one in and out of the box only working on last 5 settings and not very brite at all. New battery didnt help. Anyone else have issue with em lately. Guess its going back to the factory, bad part is have another on the way, hope its not ill too. Everything else pretty descent, glass, knobs for price should work great on a couple varmit rigs.

The illumination in the high mag models (2-10+) is not designed to be daylight bright. It is for low light situations. The lower 5 settings are only visible in complete darkness typically. I have no idea if the lpvo versions are supposed to be daylight bright, as I have never used any of those. Without seeing your scope I can not be sure, but I would imagine it is working as designed.

I think i forgot to hit the go button the other day when i was replying with scope model and was also waiting on a second identical scope i had on the way so could see if it had same issue. Its the Burris XTR ll - 4-20x50mm Illum. SCR MOA Reticle. I tested in total darkness and could not start to pick up anything till i hit setting 4 on both scopes but my eyes are getting pretty bad so maybe too faint for me too pick up. I can pick it up in full sunlight with both on high but lose it in glare so not bad. I actually think theres too many settings anyway so no biggie, it will work just fine for varmit hunting. I picked em up at Natchez as blemished for $599 so i guess i figured out the blemished part lol. Just finished testing them on my trusty laser 20 tac and there spot on, tracked perfect, good glass and really like the way the knobs feel. Bought them to finish rigging out two more rifles for upcoming family varmitting vacation so im very pleased with quality of these scopes, and thanks for the info on the illumination features, after a little digging i found this is characteristic for this scope.
