So I’ve shot plenty of vortex, it performs for my need so it works. I’m looking to possible switch it up. I have a surgeon 591 chambered in 6.5x47, and Im Considering the xtr ii 5-25 vs the gen one razor. Is the xtr ii just as good?

just my personal opinion, but ive owned a gen 1 razor and a buddy had the burris at the same exact time. I would put the gen 1 razor ahead in clarity and just the overall scope in general. some may disagree and my eyes may be different. like i said just my opinion.

Built in one of the most advanced technological societies with an emphisis on kaizen vs. built in a 3rd world country where the majority of people have never experienced indoor plumbing.

Agreed of those two options gen 1 is the better choice. That said in the used market a Cronus btr can be had for $1100ish and offer the best bang for your buck! Gen 2 Razors are the next best bet for the money. Oh and I've only heard good things about the tract toric as well... so many options it's a good problem to have.

I am a big fan of my gen i razor. I actually bought in over the PST gen ii. The price was there. One thing to consider is the elevation. The gen i razor has 110 moa of travel I believe, a lot more than the 70 or so the gen ii PST offers. So if you're really stretching it out, the elevation may be a deal maker.

The Gen 1 is one of the best deals on the interwebs. Its an $1800 scope selling in the $1200 range if you are patient. Great scope.

You wont give up a thing with the XTR2 other than glass quality. that is arguably not even noticeable in 90% of shooting conditions for half the $$.

Surprisingly enough, I picked up a refurbished gen i from my local Cabelas for under $900 about a year ago. Probably the only good deal I will get from Cabelas/Bass Pro Shops.

If you go the Burris route I’d stick with the 4-20. The glass on the 5-25 just doesn’t cut it for me above 20x. I have a 4-20 h59 and love that thing. Snagged it for $700 used. The xtr’s are tanks and they’re proven performers. (Not that the vortex isn’t)

If you go the vortex route skip the g1 and hold out for a used g2.

Or snag a used Burris while you save for a g2?
