Rifle Scopes burris xtr ? install?

ok simple question ,, what direction do you install the flats on the bottom of these rings?

i fig with recoil being in a backword direction you would want the flats faceing forward against the mount,


any how any input would be great

Flats go up against the muzzle end.

thats what i was thinking to take the brunt of the recoil thanks
