Re: Bushmaster M17 Bull Pup questions

So not a soul knows much about them. Must be hard to get parts then

Re: Bushmaster M17 Bull Pup questions

I actually have one. Bought it about 7 years ago. 5.56 chamber, 1:7 twist, crime lined, ar-180 bolt carrier & gas system design. I've never had any sort of problem with it, but it is a bit different than anything else I'm familiar with. I haven't shot mine much in the last few years. From what I understand, Bushmaster still keeps parts in stock for them.

Re: Bushmaster M17 Bull Pup questions

I picked one up in the nineties. Two digit SN. Never had a problem with it. Pretty accurate for what it is. Trigger was really heavy. Haven't had it out of the safe in close to a decade though. Seems the last ones I've seen were going for maybe $800, but that's a guess.

Re: Bushmaster M17 Bull Pup questions

I had one of the first out there. JamOmatic. Not very well made. There are a couple of people on Ar15.com who work on them. Big problem is mags. The upper and lower would sep. And would not feed a new round. Several trips back and forth to bushmaster and 2 new rifles later. I gave up and sold at a loss.

Re: Bushmaster M17 Bull Pup questions

I have 2 of them currently. one which I have done a complete make over on. lightened it, removed the carry handle and added a rail, added other rails and vented the heck out of it, which cut heat buildup and quite a bit of weight. and cerakoted it OD. would be a lot nicer with a better trigger. but accurate enough. no problems with feeding. pricing is between $700 to $1100 depending if it is preban or post ban and what mods have been done to it. I have not touched the second one, but REALLY thinking hard about making it a SBR and converting it to 300 blackout. figure with a 10.5" barrel I'll have a OAL of about 19.5" with muzzle device....add about 8" or so with a suppressor, like one of the surefire titanium suppressors.
