Looking for the post that described how to get the elevation knob 'zero' to line back up with the hash mark below it after the knob was removed. I tried several searches and couldn't come up with it. I remember the original poster contacted Bushnell and got directions from them and this fixed it. Thanks. Rich

Re: Bushnell elev. knob adjustment post

If you are referring to the indexing marks this is not possible. The turrets are resettable for establishing your zero. This only returns the 0 to the front position when removing the turret caps. You cant add additional elevation attempting to change what level it is marked on. The indexing lines provide reference to which level you are on so you are aware how many rotations you are either at or away from your zero.

Eg. Your elevation turrets may have 9 indexing levels. The 5th line should be your optical center, with 4 full rotations in either direction. Once you have zeroed your scope, you will no longer be at the scope center from compensating for its level above the bore and to creat a downward angle. If its zeroed a full rotation or more off center (should be), itwill always be marked as so.

Hope this helps or clears it up a bit.

Re: Bushnell elev. knob adjustment post

These are the indexing marks,
The resettable zero feature lines your 0 mark on the turret cap with the vertical line on the turret housing, the horizontal lines are the lines indicating which level you are on (how many rotations you have made). When you replace the turret cap the 0 lines up with the vertical line in the center of the indexing marks. How far your turret cap goes down cannot be 'reset'. A portion of the lines are covered when the cap is on and more are revealed or concealed as the turret rotates (up or down).

As you can see in this picture, my scope has 11 levels. If my zero was on the 'X' level and I dialed 3 full rotations, the index marks would show how far I was from my zero (without actually counting each rotation).

Sometimes pictures are worth more than words. Sorry if that wasn't clear before-

Re: Bushnell elev. knob adjustment post

Thanks BobD. But when I replaced my turret cap the zero didn't line up with the vertical line, it was slightly to one side. It lined up perfectly before I removed it to set my 200 yd zero. This is what I remember happening to someone else and there were a string of posts about it until the orignal poster was able to do something with a component within the elevation tube. That is what I am looking for. Rich

Re: Bushnell elev. knob adjustment post

Rich,

How far off center is it? Are all of your adjustments within 1 rotation from zero showing up the same way in both directions (up and down for elevation? If the two marks are still lined up but just slightly off center I would say its fairly common. There is a small amount of play in between adjustments and may be slightly looser on the level you set your 200 yard zero.

To check if that's the case:
From your zero (leave the caps on) dial back toward your optical center (if you wrote
down what adjustments you made), which is where there scope was set originally and
appeared normal before. As you're doing this, check to see if and when your
adjustments start lining up again.

* Note: its common that there is a small amount of slop that is visible on the left side of both the elevation and Windage turrets. You should notice that dialing down in elevation or left in widage the adjustments should snap immediately to the next position. However if you apply slight pressure 'up' in elevation or 'right' with windage will be a small take up where the turret can be let go (if you dont continue the adjustment) and not be 'exactly' lined up. Apply slight pressure in the reverse direction and in line up again.

^^^^ Check to see if that when you dialed up this was not the case first.
If neither of these are the case and its that far off I would talk to Bushell for warrantee if its that bad and bothers you. Again, being slightly off is common, as long as you know which adjustment your on should not be a big deal. I wouldn't start messing with the guts... Probably void any warrantee.

Good luck with it and post a picture if you get a chance-
