I have a cheap spotting scope and need to upgrade, and I've read a bit here about the Bushnell Excursion mildot and was wondering how far out you are able to see a .308 POI against a white or fluorescent orange background?
I really like the ranging capability as that allows me to quickly work the math and provide my shooter with the come-ups while he's setting up. But my current rig won't allow me to see the shots past 300 yards, 250 yards if mirage is really boiling. And if the Bushnell doesn't do a whole lot better I'd rather just save for a high end Mildot spotter. That's what I did with the scope for the new rifle. Since I couldn't find a Vortex Viper PST anywhere, rather than spend $600 now and try to get by I am throwing a 10x 3200 on it and saving for a Mil/Mil or MOA/MOA Nightforce.
