So this month last year I was tickled pink because I had ordered my first scope, a Bushnell Elite Tactical 4200, 3-12x44mm. i hadnt event gotten my rifle yet and went ahead because of the reviews I seen on here. For several months after I got it, the rifle, and started shooting I was happy. But for the last couple months Ive noticed something but dont know if its just me..

When I look through the scope, its almost like the crosshairs become translucent. It isn't consistent I guess you could say but its becoming more aggravating. Less noticeable when you are on less power but at full power it gets ridiculous. other people have looked through it but not seen the problem I am having.

Now, for my eyes.. I was zeroing a friends 30-06 today with a bushnell scope that is easily 5-7 years old, not a target scope, just plain jane.. and the cross hairs were perfect to me..

Any suggestions? Ive spoke with bushnell and plan on sending in but want other inputs before I go to the hassle..

Re: Bushnell tech support appreciated...

I have the exact same experience with this scope as you. I wear contacts and always figured that had something to do with it. I have noticed if my eye is not perfectly aligned down the center of the scope it happens. Last weekend I had move this scope to another rifle to do some testing. My cheekweld was close but not perfect. I had to push my cheek down slightly to gain a crisp crosshair again.

I always thought it was just my sorry eyesight and that one day when I get lasik I won't have to deal with these things????? I also cannot use red dot sights for this reason. (astigmatism) But what do I know?

FWIW I have fine tuned the eye piece adjustment over and over. I was able to lessen the effects to some extent but sometimes its still there.

Do you wear corrective lenses? Maybe your eyes are changing and that's why the problem is getting worse. Maybe play with the adjustment and see if it persists.

ETA: One other thing that stands out: A buddy of mine that shoots a lot with me has problems behind this scope when its set for my eyes. All of my other optics he is fine when he shoots them. But for some reason when he shoots the rifle with this scope he immediately complains about the crosshairs being fuzzy and has to adjust it. [shrugs]

Both happy and sad to see its not just me..
Bushnell offered to test the scope to see if there was any type of malfunction i just hate to ship it, wait several weeks and have to readjist everything and risk being told there is no problem found, user error.

If you do send yours in, I'd be interested to know what they say.

Right now mine doesn't bother me enough to go through the whole process.
