I know they aren't in the same league but will I see the difference in the NF to justify the price. Shooting will be at 600 yards max but may go further if space opens up.

Oh boy... You are about to get hammered with "that is what the SEARCH button is for!" I have found when you ask a question that involves comparisons you get the dumbass treatment. Personally, I think it's a great question. I'd like to know as well. I have a 6500 that I really like but I don't know if the NF 2x better as it is 2x more expensive. Good luck.

I am assuming you are talking about the NXS Second focal plane nightforce. I can see the mirage better in my nightforce (helps in judging the wind). One thing you need to realize is the reticule on the nightforce is really really thin. I was using my nightforce for the first time at a rimfire silhouette match and I had a tough time seeing the crosshairs against the black metal targets. Nightforce is more clear and has a larger vertical adjustment range. You will definitely start seeing differences in clarity at the higher magnifications ranges. Oh and the nightforce does have illuminated reticule. My nightforce has matching turrets and reticule (both MOA scale).

For the price of the 6500 I would get the new 4200 3-12 First Focal plane matching reticule with matching turrets with illuminated reticule (MIL scale).

Hope this helps
