I am not a very big fan of authority, have a libertarian bent to my politics, and generally believe we have ten times as many laws as is necessary. I agree with the vast majority of what you say @ArmyJerry . About the closest I've ever come to being a cop was drawing shore patrol duty (armband and a night stick). That said, in any traffic stop I have to believe that when those *DING*s start piling up it puts everyone on edge. Not that this young woman was some desperado, but there's no question she's out of control, and could easily become desperate once she figures out it's all coming to a head. How are they supposed to know what she's going to do drunk and high driving around like she owns the place? Ol' boy is just standing there looking on making sure no funny business happens (like the drunk/high idiot bolts) and this ends peacefully. They seem like cool customers to me.

Damn officer. I could not have said it better myself! She's 19. She's totally salvageable, but she has to want to salvage. Maybe this ordeal will learn her something. Maybe not, but I get that the officers actually care about her, and don't want her to become a typical repeat customer. They don't want to know her. What more could you ask for? We don't want robot law enforcement. We want OFFICERS. An "officer" is a leader, and I don't see how in a traffic stop they could have demonstrated more leadership in the execution of their duties.

I think he is fucking with you. Just my take. I think it is pretty clear they did a great job and at the same time took an appropriate amount of caution. There is a shit ton of risk on traffic stops. The officers don’t know as you pointed out what the person might do. Especially when they are under the influence. Doesn’t take much time to find videos of officers being shot at and people running all the time from routine traffic stops. Many officers are great people who put their lives on the line every day for the well-being of their communities which most of the people are strangers to them but they gladly do it. And before you rant I know hey are not all great people. I said many or even most. Personally I feel law enforcement on a whole deserves our respect. I say thank you for your service. But again that is me.

Well I guess I misread your intent. So you have made it clear you were serious so I guess I will take a serious position also. I totally don’t agree. As I mentioned I said most police are good people. Just as most of society I believe is good. Their are shit bags in every part of our society no matter the employment field. The problem is rule of law has been lost not because of the police but from people who have decided to disregard law. People feel they don’t have to or need to listen to the police. As a result as I stated the police are at risk of losing their lives. I don’t see murder in that video I see a dumbass piece of shit that needed to learn to follow directions. Don’t reach to your back. How many times does he have to be told what to do. His hand clearly went behind him again. In so many of the police videos that people are all up in arms about it is so clear that the perp is failing to comply. Just do what your told. I have been pulled over a few times in my life and have never been concerned about my wellbeing. Guess my question is what have you done that has you so worried?

Most cops are great people and so are most citizens, diff being most cops will cover for a murderous cop as Schnibbly did above and most citizens will remove a murderer from their midst one way or another.
The problem with what you said is that you have convicted them of murder before a trial. When an officer has an in the line of duty shooting standard policy is administrative leave pending an investigation. So no not arrested immediately and convicted as a murderer. If it was truely murder I stand behind what you say completely. I am not saying they are scared what I am saying is they are being placed in a position where the police are at risk more due to attitudes such as yours.
I know what country I am in and fully recognize the need for law and respecting it. My point is that the police come at our call when things are going bad and people are breaking the law. My point was that if you do what you are told then things go better. Even if you are right it can be sorted later. In the videos I was referring to people who are breaking the law fail to comply then people like you go all ape shit and defend a shit bag instead of rule of law. Doing what you are supporting only tears down our society more.

I think it is no different than school shooters or active shooters in other locations. Very few people in our society do these types of things but it is highly publicized. Same for police. There are tens of thousands of officers out there and a few of them are shit bags like it said but that gets the publicity. That does not make the majority bad. Simple deduction. But if you want to live in a world where you think most cops are bad your choice. I suggest the next time you have a confrontation with one try resisting and pulling some of the shit you defend. You might be right in your mind or wrong in mine but still dead. Your choice.

Not licking anyone’s boots. I was raised with a healthy respect for authority (parents, teachers, police officers and such). Something that has been lost in our society and we are not better off for it.
Not at all. I am however a law abiding citizen who as stated above still has respect. Keep kidding yourself that you are making our country better while you contribute to the destruction of rule of law. I don’t have to condemn all or most police officers and chose to be in conflict with them to be free.

They have not lost support just the automatic pass on credibility they used to have. I peel the onion back a few layers on everything government now a days and it all started because of the reaction of the cops on this site to the murder of that homeless guy in New Mexico on a hill side a few years back.

When your life is not on the lineis not the time. In my view if you are being held at gun point that is the time to not question or challenge. In my experience the only times I have had run ins with the cops has been when I have been doing something wrong and I knew it. But have never been in a position that they felt they needed to use force. I have not been randomly harassed by law enforcement. So again I ask what are you doing that has you worried? And would suggest maybe stop doing stuff that is making you be on their radar. But again that is me. I have not once said you should never question. Have even said in certain situations I agree with you. But I won’t throw all officers in together because of a few. And won’t support convicting them of murder over the internet or back shit bags that can’t figure out to comply when they it is time to comply. We can argue all night and not agree. Especially if you can’t see there is a time to not challenge.
