Buying a new barrel for a Tikka -- where can I get a smaller shank barrel ??

I will be re-barreling my Tikka T3 rifle.

I was just advised by my gunsmith that I will need to order a barrel with a smaller shank. Should be 1.15, rather than 1.2 or 1.25.

Any suggestions on where to buy the barrel?

I am leaning toward getting a Bartlein or Hawk Hill.

As far as I know, the radius can be faced off and a 1.200" shank can be used.

Out of curiosity, who is your "gunsmith"?

Bartlein or Hawk Hill would be good choices, though if you already have a blank, I'm confused why your 'smith won't just turn the blank down to size...

That's exactly what I want to do with one of your Tikka bugnut barrels

Bartlein just duplicated a Tikka contour for me.

To convert a barrel that a customer has we just put it in the lathe and turn down the shank on centers. Our Tikka blanks are cut to the 1.16 size directly but if someone sends me a barrel to use it's about a 5 minute job to set it up on centers and whittle it back.
