Newsmax is reporting the death of Sylvester "Sly" Stewart, lead of "Sly & the Family Stone." He was 82. Known for such hits as "Dance to the Music" and "Everyday People," But my favorite was always this one:
Just curious. Which tunes of Sly did the rink play? I'm trying to figure which of their tunes could be easy enough for skating (or learning to skate). At my childhood rink, they had like a Hammond Organ, so it could be only things playable on that organ. Although I'm sure they got a stereo system feed in a bit later.
I recall one of their (my rink's organist(s)) favorites was the chorus to the Mexican folk tune "Las Chiapanecas" because everyone could "clap.. clap" to it.
