So why do they call it the “Bargain Cave”? I have had the pleasure of browsing the Hamburg, PA and Monroe, MI stores extensively and must say that the only bargain I have ever found was a pair of 3mm waders. Even then, I was taking a risk… Who buys used waders?

Just wondering what your “bargain” is from Cabela’s?

I wouldn't want somebody elses waders. Think about it, how many times have you farted in your waders while in a duck blind...

Re: Cabela’s Bargain Cave?

I got a chargemaster for 200 bucks complete

I got a forster trimmer and 3 way trim die for 70 bucks

I got 2 surefire g2's for 20 bucks

I love the bargain cave!

Re: Cabela’s Bargain Cave?

A Cabela's opened up in Hartford, Ct a couple years ago.
I check out the bargain cave every time I go. Most of the stuff in there should be discounted more than it is. I've seen boots at least 2 seasons old with dirt and grass still on them and they have them marked $15 below retail. Occasionally I do find a deal. I found a Pfleuger Supreme spinning reel for half price. It appeared to be new, but was marked down because it was missing the spare spool. I already had the same reel, so I didn't really need 2 spare spools. Of course, another time, I bought a 12pk of Surefire 123a batteries that was missing one battery for $10. The problem is, out of the 11 remaining batteries, only 3 were good. That's the problem with bargain cave gear. Once you buy it it's your problem. Since Cabelas CS is so good, I thind most tomes you're better off paying a few $ more for new, and if you ever have a problem with it, you can return it for a refund or exchange .

Re: Cabela’s Bargain Cave?

Went to the one in Hamburg PA several times. Buy from the cave each time there. Got a nice demo one of fleece womens jacket for sis-in-law for $15, others like it were going around $50. Got the fold up camp kitchen with sink listed for over $100 for $50. Got it home and assembled, two skillet burn marks on tabletop, only cosmetic. Been using it for about 5 years now. I call it my swiss army kitchen. I'm leary of electronics there though.

Re: Cabela’s Bargain Cave?

A fair bit of the time they will negotiate on stuff in the cave. Know of a guy who got them to drop $700 on a Swarovski scope, and 200 on a shooting bench. Thdy used to have better deals in the cave right off the bat, but if they are that flexible on the prices in there it's just a matter of asking.

Re: Cabela’s Bargain Cave?

That's interesting! I didn't know the prices were negotiable.
I have seen some stuff there and thought,"if it was $20 or $50 less, that would be a good deal". I'll have to try that next time I'm there.

Re: Cabela’s Bargain Cave?

I have worked in cabelas and the bargin cave is made up mostly of stuff that has been slightly damaged in the store.. like torn package or camo chipping off bows, ect. If you want good deals at cabelas when you find somthing you like cause some slight damage to the package or a target poke a hole in it and talk to management they will knock the price down for you to buy the damaged merchindise..

Re: Cabela’s Bargain Cave?

You really have to inspect the stuff in there. Alot of it is damaged in some way or missing something. Clothes are usually torn or have been worn and are dirty. No way would I buy anything electronic like a game camera, you are most likely getting someone's head ache. Got burnt on a 30lb sausage stuffer once that looked new but broke the second time I used it.
But with that said I did find a 20moa Near scope base and paid $24 for it.

Please tell me you're joking about this and wouldn't actually do it.

Re: Cabela’s Bargain Cave?

DBhon,
I have never done it but you would not believe how many people come in and do it.. I worked in the archery department and one day built a pyramid out of block targets at least 60 new targets and there was one ripped on the bottom and a customer came by and complained because the target he wanted the plastic was torn in a corner. so after about 30 minutes of bitching about poor quality he got it more than half off. so the answer to your question is no i dont do it but everyday its done at cabelas in ks.

Re: Cabela’s Bargain Cave?

N-TRAIN,
Glad to hear you wouldn't do something like that, it just sounded like you were offering advice. It doesn't surprise me that it happens though. There will always be a steady supply of liars and cheats in the world.

Re: Cabela’s Bargain Cave?

If you do, I hope they catch your ass doing it on camera and charge you.....<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: N-TRAIN</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I have worked in cabelas and the bargin cave is made up mostly of stuff that has been slightly damaged in the store.. like torn package or camo chipping off bows, ect. Well if you read the post above it where it says i have never done it and simply told how customers do it all of the time you wouldnt have to hope they catch me on camera smart ass..

Re: Cabela’s Bargain Cave?

Didnt see where you crawfished in your addtl post after your first one instructed how to steal from your former employer. May have painted you wrong, but I doubt it. Telling people how to steal makes one as guilty as the thief, and I dont like thieves.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: N-TRAIN</div><div class="ubbcode-body"><div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Match308</div><div class="ubbcode-body">If you do, I hope they catch your ass doing it on camera and charge you.....<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: N-TRAIN</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I have worked in cabelas and the bargin cave is made up mostly of stuff that has been slightly damaged in the store.. like torn package or camo chipping off bows, ect.
